I'm not big on Valentine's Day. It's always during busy season, so I really just want it acknowledged - bonus if we can use it as an excuse for a date night on an adjacent weekend. I did get the boys a small treat and token chocolates for Bryan and I... just to show the boys that it was a holiday for Mom and Dad, too. They are having parties at school today and took store-bought cards for their friends. JTC did write his own name on most of them this year!
So to step back, our favorite sushi place had our favorite menu item on sale Saturday with all proceeds going to a charitable cause. (Thanks, Becky, for the tip!) I texted Bryan about it on the off chance he'd want to bring some home after work. He did! So yea for surprise sushi date night at home!
As an even bigger surprise, remember that necklace I was obsessing over? That was sold out everywhere? Well, not only had he ordered it for me a couple of weeks ago, he had it shipped to Tara's. (See: Lesson learned on Kindle and chocolate oranges.) He let me open it on Saturday so I could wear it to church and Charlie's birthday festivities (he's 7!) on Sunday.
I'm difficult to surprise, but he did an amazing job! Love, love the necklace, but it's the thought behind the process that really makes me feel special.
