Craw[ford] Gumbo #88

  • I'm feeling at about 80% today.  That amounted to morning routine, dropping off boys, doing some work, taking a conference call, and napping until my late afternoon ENT appointment.  Oh, and then I got my oil changed.  I'd call today I success, I guess?
  • Granny started cleaning up Christmas, changed sheets, went to the grocery store and is doing evening pick-up with dinner.  She rocks!
  • I am obsessing over this necklace that my cousin got for Christmas.  Out of stock. Boo! (I don't usually obsess over stuff like this.  So it must be awesome.)
  • I went to an ENT today.  I've been totally happy with the care from my family doc for this Big Sickness, but it's time to move onto the big guns.  I just went to the guy where we took AJC back in May for his hearing tests.  I really felt like he got where I was coming from, etc.  He reviewed the treatments that I've been on, and was happy to see what we've done so far.  I'm going back on Monday to get a CT scan of what my "best" condition looks like, after this long line of antibiotics and steroids.  A plan from there will depend on the results.  I told him that I felt at 80% today, though, and he didn't give my nose/ears that much credit.  Hence needing to see inside.  I'm good with that.
  • I've been logging a lot of time on my Kindle since Christmas.  So far, I'm very happy with it.  I love always having it with me with a dozen books at the ready.  I love that I've already downloaded the books that have crossed my radar in the past two weeks.  I love that I've downloaded a bunch of free/cheap ones, too.  I signed up for a daily e-mail of free/cheap Kindle books from Pixel of Ink.  Thanks to JenniferF for the recommendation!
  • I've debated how to share my thoughts on books, and think it's going to come in Gumbo's.  I just don't have it in me to track it separately.  Maybe tagged with a Book label.  So...
  • Book: "Deadly Sanctuary" by Sylvia Nobel.  Free Kindle download.  Lots of technical errors in the rendering of the book (e.g., missing words), but an easy mystery thriller.  Thumbs up.
  • Book: "One Day" by David Nicholls.  On EW's best of 2010 list.  $5 Kindle download. We visit two friends each July 15th for a couple of decades. Fiction-y rather than romance-y.  Thumbs up.
  • Book: "Room" by

I read "One Day" and didn't really think that much of it. Curious what the movie version will be like.

I concur that dark chocolate/orange is a pretty yummy combo.

Both you and Laura are taking about Kindy registration already. In my head I know all the May "babies" are starting next year, but when we start talking about it in the blogs, it just really starts to set in. When did they get so big? Also, must have missed the post where you decided for sure to send him to your alma mater. I am jealous that you have so many fabulous options close by to you.

Glad you are feeling better and interested in hearing what the CT results/next step will be.

Glad you are on the mend. And glad you are enjoying your Kindle! I love mine!

I think I have the same germs you had. Did you ever have a fever? Mine was well over 102 last night, but we have no family to help out. With MTB being self employed his boss is not so good when it comes to taking time off for this kind of thing. No work. No pay. Blah, this is when being a SAHM mom really blows... at least if I worked, I could send them off for some quality time in bed asleep.

But, the reason for my comment, have you checked out Central Market for the chocolate orange thingies? I know they have them, but not sure if they have the dark chocolate combo.

Glad you are better and finally on the mend.

Oh, I had so many comments pop into my head that I'm sure I'm going to forget some of them. Anyway, I love my Kindle too. I really thought it was going to be a tough transition since I'm such a book freak, but it took about five minutes before I was hooked. Don't you love not having to turn pages, balance the open book, or worry about losing your place when a small person messes with your bookmark?

I love the gumbo book comments.

I'm glad you've got an ENT involved. Hopefully, this was an anomaly illness, but if not, you need to be able to treat it faster and better if it does crop up again. You just don't have the time to deal with that kind of illness.

I saw a whole bunch of the wack-an-oranges on sale after Christmas and I thought of you. They were milk chocolate though, not dark chocolate. Personally, I like both milk and dark for oranges, but my favorite is chocolate sprinkles on orange sherbet.

LOVE that necklace Lindsay! In general, I love her stuff...even though I don't actually own anything of hers except for a pair of flip flops that I bought (cheap) at the outlet store. ha! I have my eye on one of her leather totes that I probably will never break down and buy.

Excited for LauraE having a BOY!
