Today is my 35th birthday. That seems like a big milestone, right? I'm now closer to 40 than 30. Part of me is fine with this, and part of me is SO NOT OK with it. How can I be close to 40? Isn't my mom just 40? Oh, she's not? Huh.
On the other hand, I'm probably not even half way through with my life. We've got some good longevity in our genes. I know you can't count on it, but it's there.
I've been planning my annual trip down to A&M to teach my class, and I'm wondering... am I too old? Do the students write me off as having nothing in common with them? Is it crazy to continue my introduction with pictures of me during my time at A&M... over 12 years ago? If we had a young Aggie on the team, I would probably start grooming them to take over, but we don't.
Maybe I don't feel 35 because I have small children. I feel... 31-ish. The only thing that makes me happy to be out of my early 30's is that I spent most of that time pregnant and/or with babies. I don't miss that!
I'm not READY to be Middle-Aged!!!

I'm starting to think that with my 37th birthday coming up. I was ok with 35 and 36 but 37??? Too close to 40!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Don't work too hard and enjoy some of it. (I never would have guessed you were older than me:)--I've got kids older than yours so that makes me feel WAY older than you!
Happy Birthday Lindsay! Age is completely a state of mind. If your mind says you're 31, then you're 31! :-) I know what you mean about looking at all the young women around you and wondering if they see you as old. Especially weird when you were JUST them a few years ago. Anyway, hope you have a fantastic day, and if you decide to add to your family, don't freak out that you are now "advanced maternal age"! LOL
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Happy birthday!
35 is actually pretty nice once you get used to it. It's much better than getting close to 40, trust me.
And Beth is lying in her comment above. You wiper snappers do come up with the funniest ideas.
Happy Birthday Lindsay!!! 35 is awesome, btw--look at all you have accomplished!
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! :-)
Wishing you a very happy birthday! Best wishes for a wonderful year ahead!! xx
Happy Birthday! I will be 35 next Saturday. I don't feel my age either. And I think that middle aged is around 50 now with the longer lifespan.
Happy Birthday! Remember you are only as old as you feel.
We were born 16 days apart!
I went out to dinner with some girls for a MNO. One of the moms, who must have been in her early 20s, said that "I didn't look that old" when I mentioned that Ryan and I had been married for 12 years. What I didn't tell her is that Ryan and I have been together for 18 years (dating, engaged, married), which probably means that we started dating when she was in first grade. I felt old. But wisdom of this age is something I would never trade for that youth.
Heather V (LauraC Raleigh friend) here. We have the SAME birthday (along with Robert E Lee AND Dolly Parton.)
Wild, huh?
I hope you had a super day. Mine was spent with my older son dragging me outside in the predawn where he had decorated the porch in all things Cars from his room. Very sweet in a 4 year old way.
As far as the age, I totally has a crisis of confidence at 35 last year, thinking my life was most likely 1/2 over.
I really worked to make healthier decisions and really try to make time with my family count.
Getting back into shape post Baby 2 has done wonders for seeing the next 35+ as being on the better half.
Happy 35. Hope it's a FAB year.
I turned 38 in September and that is waaaaay too close to 40 for me. 35 was only half way but now I am 18 months away!
