Craw[ford] Gumbo #84

  • I started this Gumbo two weeks ago.  Huh.  At the time, Bryan was returning after a two-week work trip to Europe. We were more than ready for him to be home!
  • JTC got a real hit in his 2nd tee ball game . The coach is allowed to pitch to each batter 5 times before they have to hit from the tee, and he connected! I was so proud.  He's lost that particular skill since then, but it was quite a moment.
  • I need to get video of him running with that enormous batting helmet on. I'll admit to laughing out loud. Sorry, kid!
  • We had a fun family weekend of doing Not Much.  Saturday was Oktoberfest at church, but we didn't even get there because AJC took napped until 5:00 and A&M v. Arkansas was a closer game than we thought it would be.  JTC loved the bounce house with the slide, and AJC loved the duck carnival game.
  • Yesterday afternoon, we got to watch the Cowboy game in relative peace. The boys played (mostly) nicely together upstairs through halftime (!) then joined us on the couch for wrestling and snuggles during the second half.  Awesome.
  • Joanna, Maria and LauraC did Warrior Dash this weekend.  Yikes.  Did I really sign up for this in November??  Thank goodness Laura is coming to do it with me!
  • Blogging has been slow because most of my computer-facing time has been work, work, work lately.  I have two large October deadlines.  Fun work, though.
  • I haven't really gotten to watch any new TV shows.  I'll update my list soon to share with you.
  • I'm also having issues with my U-Verse DVR.  Lack of a "keep-at-most" option means my shows are being deleted way sooner than I expected.  Bryan and the boys' shows repeat so much that they are taking up all of the space. I need to change their settings to only pick up certain time slots.
  • We had a bobcat on our back patio last week.  We know they are in the area, but we hadn't seen one this close before.  I haven't seen it again, so I assume it came for the bunnies and left when they were gone.  There was also evidence that it got a bird in our front yard.  Now that we are small-critter free, maybe it will stay away!
  • JTC is tentatively getting into Star Wars. He wasn't much into Empire when we watched it a while back... too scary.  But Katie gave him a book about Luke Skywalker for his birthday, and he's really enjoying it.  He's asked for an x-wing fighter for his sticker chart.  =)
  • I'm totally a bandwagon fan, but the Rangers are in the playoffs!  How novel!  Go Rangers!
  • Today is the 13th anniversary of my first date with Bryan!
  • My dad has been great about seeing a lot of the boys this summer.  Last Thursday, he came up for JTC's baseball practice, and when the boys saw him, they ran to him yelling, "Grandpa!  Grandpa!"  It was adorable and heart-warming.  Putting in the time with them certainly pays off!
  • I'm starting to think about Christmas presents.  I have a couple of ideas for JTC, but AJC does not need a darn thing.  We may have to wrap up old things of JTC's to give him and just put the cash in his savings!
  • I ordered JTC some 5 and 5T clothes this morning.  He's going to need them for length this year: legs, arms and torso.
  • I'm feeling settled into the next phase of friendships in my life lately.  It was a rough transition from college friends to the ones I have now (which still includes some old friends).  Much harder than switching to Trinity or going to college. God bless the internet. =b

Oops! I bought JTC a size 4 shirt at the outlet mall yesterday. Guess you can save it for AJC. Christmas? Say it isn't time yet! I may come up for Halloween on Cedarbrush - will you be in town that weekend?

Yay for the real hit in Tee ball. Very exciting.

You'll do fine in Warrior Dash. Seriously, you've got the running down and the obstacles are all doable for a mom with two boys. You'll have a blast.

5 and 5T? I guess he get's his height from his mama.
